From a survey of 850 UK new car buyers, 48% of online researchers will watch online video and a remarkable 66% will use the web to select the actual dealership (Google).
Consumers are becoming much more knowledgeable, spending on average 11 hours online researching cars. And Nathan Coe, group director at Auto Trader informs us “With 90% of consumers searching for cars online, the internet is the single most influential tool for buyers and dealers alike” (via Car Dealer Magazine). He added “24% of buyers admit they will travel more than 100 miles to buy a car that is the one for them.”
This level of car-buying research really conveys the importance of engaging online content, enabling consumers to choose where they’ll part with their cash. The length of time car-buyers decide on a purchase has been said to be around 3.6 months (Google). So it makes sense to show off the vehicle as much as possible, gaining maximum exposure for the car dealership itself.
