Jason Plato invites AutosOnShow.TV to the 2011 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship.
Adam and Rachel Price of AutosOnShow.TV were invited to join Jason Plato’s Chevrolet team at Silverstone to watch the drama of the 2011 BTCC final unfold.
Jason, presenter of the motoring television series Fifth Gear, is a British racing car driver and was the 2010 BTCC champion. There was controversy leading up to the 2011 final due to Plato’s main competition Honda use of Turbo engines. Going in to the competition Plato commented
It’s a big ask even though I’m right in there with the Hondas on points. This is a circuit where raw power tells and the others all have turbo engines making it very difficult to get near them down the straights but I’ll never give up.
His attempts to retain his title were thwarted after he suffered a puncture in race 1 and finished outside of the top 20. This meant Plato began race 2 in a low position and despite finishing in a respectable 7th place, mathematically his chances of retaining his BTCC title were over. Matt Neal of Honda went on to win the title with his team mate Gordon Shedden finishing second.

Nevertheless Plato was able to put his foot down and achieved second place in race 3. The AutosOnShow.TV team were impressed with Plato’s performance and enjoyed watching the battle and the fantastic hospitality Chevrolet provided.
The team was thrilled to cheer on Plato who has long supported AutosOnShow.TV and look forward to supporting him in the years to come.
